  1. Kennedy had his flaws but for that one period in history, he prevented the United States and perhaps the world, from being reduced to a radioactive wasteland with 100,000,000s dead.

  2. Thanks for your comment! The crisis was sorted out through a secret deal between the two countries, a quid pro quo. The Soviets agreed to take down their missiles, and we did the same by agreeing to remove the obsolete Juniper missiles we had in Turkey. President Kennedy had already planned to take those missiles out of Turkey. The world only heard that the Soviets were removing their missiles, which made it seem as though they were backing down. Six months later, in April 1963, the U.S. quietly took out its missiles too.
