  1. Great work Allen. Midway for me was my favorite battle to read about owing to the odds vs the significance. I agree the torpedo planes were sacrificed and have often wondered what would have happened if all the torpedo planes had been dive bombers. Roosevelt did a great job of naming Nimitz commander of the Pacific fleet as he was surly the right man for the job. Thank you Allen for this very good and well researched article on the battle of Midway.

  2. Ralph, thank you for your kind words. Midway is a subject that I put off writing about for years, mainly because of its tantamount significance in our history and my inadequacies as a writer. I appreciate your vote of confidence! The researching is the fun part. That’s a good question about the dive bombers. Thank you again for reading.

My Dad served in that war, and never did like talking about it. He was a cook and aTeletype Operator. I was about 3 when he was drafted.

  6. Thank YOU, SIR, for your great and courageous dedication and service which altered the course of history! May God Bless You and All Loved Ones in All Ways!!!!

  7. Our Uncle Lowell V. Bulger fought in the Battle Of Midway as a Marine Raider! Then he was sent to Guadalcanal to fight over Henderson Field from the Japanese. After fighting on Guadalcanal, he was sent to Boganville to finish up his tour of the Solomon Island campaign!
