  1. My great great-great-uncle Isaac Mallow was wounded there and died a few days later at a hospital in Frederick, MD. He fought for the Union.

How they fought the Civil War makes me shake my head: Union soldiers (wearing bright blue uniforms) line up across from a line of Confederates, 30 to 50 yards away, and shoot at each other with half inch or larger musket balls until one side abandons the filed. If you get hit in the torso you will die. If you are hit in the arm or leg they will cut it off and you might survive.

Must’ve been hell, used to do re-enactments for film and at that particular battle, I was in Miller’s cornfield as a skirmisher, and when I was supposed to fall dead, it was all these dandelion pricier plants and I had to fall in that crap. The rebs were saying fall down yank we shot you. I was thinking no no!

  5. My Great Grandfather fought in that battle for the Union Army, survived and was able to return to his home in central Pa.
